Transparency?

The implications of today's glimpse of Tory, and perhaps all party encompassing, election spending practices is disturbing to say the least. What astounds me beyond the Tories alleged crimes is the distinct feeling of hopelessness that accompanies those allegations. When our confidece in competent governance was shattered in the Liberal ad scam scandal, Canadians left almost optionless, cautiously elected Harper and team Conservative to watch the helm. Campaigning on transparency, accountability, and 5 key priorities the Conservative wooed voters into the belief that change, while different, was an option.

Now i'm left looking at politics, literally, from the outside, in. While not overly partisan in nature, i'm fearful of a political environment that leaves only three credible parties. Neither one of which has ever experienced the pressure of actually governing the Country - or advocating for Canada for that matter.

What the Tories have done to Canada is damaged an already frail belief that politicians, regardless of party, could be trusted. What do you do when the only two parties capable of actually governing - have been or are currently being investigated for robbing the Countries coffers?

These next few weeks will be interesting to watch. I'm betting on more liberal outrage, conservative spin and a disappointing turn out leaving more questions than we started with.
